Blues Traveler Biography and History
Formed in Princeton, New Jersey, in 1987, Blues Traveler blends blues, rock, and jam-band improvisation. Frontman John Popper is known for his virtuosic harmonica playing, a defining feature of the band's energetic live sound. Their 1994 album four brought mainstream success, led by “Run-Around,” which spent 49 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100. Other signature songs include “Hook,” “But Anyway,” and “Carolina Blues.”
The group's history also reflects resilience: after original bassist Bobby Sheehan died in 1999, the remaining members continued performing and recording. Decades of touring have sustained a devoted audience, while the band's improvisational approach gives performances room for extended instrumental passages. On this bill, Blues Traveler's jam-driven set shares the stage with Gin Blossoms and Spin Doctors, offering fans a three-band concert lineup.
